SJSU Resources and Activities

Due to iGateways close association with SJSU, students are able to participate and use a number of campus resources.

Bookstore

  • Spartan Bookstore SJSU’s own bookstore sells SJSU clothing, school supplies, computers, and other useful school items. Located in the Student Union. 
     
  • **Note** For iGateways students, course textbooks and workbooks are sold at Robert’s Bookstore, located at 330 South 10th Street, San Jose, CA 95112. Located on 10th Street between San Carlos Street and San Salvador Street, across from SJSU Campus Village.

Campus Recreation and Entertainment

SJSU has a number of ways for you to be active!

  • Sport Club Fitness Center Includes fitness room with treadmills, stair masters, weights; mini-gym; dance/fitness studios; racquetball courts; locker room; basketball court. iGateways students can join the gym for $30 a month (includes Aquatic Center membership), or $5 a day.
     
  • Aquatic Center One of the largest outdoor pools in California. Features daily lap swimming, diving boards, and recreational swimming. Membership is $30 a month (includes Sport Club membership), or $3 a day.
     
  • Fitness Adventures Backpacking, climbing, and camping are just some of the adventures offered during each semester.
     
  • Group Fitness Yoga, zumba, and hip hop are some of the classes offered. For only $12 a semester, it’s a great way to stay fit and meet other people. Most classes take place in the SJSU Sports Club.
     
  • Intramural Sports (IM) Individuals and teams compete in various sports throughout the semester. Must register online. Some fees apply. Sports include volleyball, indoor soccer, and flag football. 
     
  • Open Recreation Participate in non-structured, evening sports activities on a drop-in basis in the SJSU Spartan Complex. Sports include badminton, volleyball, and basketball. Must show current SJSU student ID and VTA sticker to participate.
     
  • Club Sports Opportunity to join competitive teams in various sports. Must register online to participate. Sports teams include soccer, rugby, swimming, and volleyball. Additional sports teams listed here
     
  • Student Union Bowling Center Open to the public, the center offers a bowling alley, arcade center, billiards, and table tennis. Located on the basement floor of the Student Union.
     
  • Event Center Large arena that hosts various concerts and events for the campus and the community.
     
  • Official TicketMaster Box Office located next to the main entrance of the Event Center.  Sells tickets to events held in the Event Center and to local events.
     
  • SJSU Athletics SJSU’s official athletic teams. Sports include American football, basketball, and soccer. iGateways students are able to attend official SJSU Athletic sporting events for free! Just show your current SJSU Student ID Card and VTA sticker. Some conditions may apply.
     
  • Spartan Squad SJSU’s official mascot is the Spartan! The Spartan Squad is the official booster group for SJSU athletics. iGateways students are able to get a FREE Spartan Squad T-shirt. Find out how here.

Career Center

  • SJSU Career Center Located in the Administration Building, main entrance room 154, the Career Center offers information and numerous workshops, including how to write a resume, interview skills, and an updated job search database. iGateways students are able to use these services with a $25 annual fee.

Events

  • SJSU Events A listing of various students, staff, and faculty events on campus.
     
  • SJSU Today Additional listing of on campus events and activities.

Health

  • Student Health Center To visit the Student Health Center, iGateways students pay a $25 fee per visit, with additional fees depending on the service requested. Services include treating acute conditions, injuries, and illnesses.

**NOTE** iGateways students must register for the SJSU Wireless Network in order to use the Student Health Center. If a student has not registered to use the SJSU Wireless Network, the student will not be able to visit the Student Health Center for their services.

New iGateways students are able to obtain information on how to register for the SJSU Wireless Network by visiting the main iGateways Office in Industrial Studies 227. A letter is usually available to new students within the first week of their program.

Library

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Library One of the largest public libraries in California, MLK Library offers a large collection of materials for research and study, numerous study areas, and unique special collections. 

Newspaper

  • Spartan Daily Student run newspaper with current events articles, opinions, and commentaries.  

Radio

  • KSJS Student run radio station that plays a variety of music and programming.

Student Organizations

 International University Studies bridges language study and university courses. Enroll in SJSU courses along with English support workshops or prepare for an MBA program.
