SJSU Launches First-Ever Comprehensive Campaign

“SAN JOSE, Calif., -- At an evening event Oct. 21, Interim President Don W. Kassing launched ‘Acceleration: The Campaign for San Jose State University’ by announcing The Valley Foundation has made a $5 million gift commitment to the School of Nursing. In gratitude for this gift and over $3.5 million in past donations, the school will be named the San Jose State University Valley Foundation School of Nursing, pending approval from the California State University Board of Trustees in November.

"The Dalai Lama visits SJSU"

“The 14th Dalai Lama spoke of compassion, unity among nations and religious tolerance to a packed Event Center on Wednesday.

‘We, as Buddhists, must equally respect all religions,’ he said in his opening speech.

With an audience of thousands, the Dalai Lama spoke about topics such as awakening the mind and finding peace through meditation.

The majority of people in attendance described themselves as practicing Buddhists, although many at the event were people of other faiths.”

International Gateways Enjoys International Quiz

About 30 students from International Gateways represented 10 countries at the bi-annual International Quiz. Spartan Daily writer, Kenny Martin, notes “About 128 SJSU students, representing nearly 35 countries, made their way to the Student Union’s Barrett Ballroom on Friday to partake in the International Quiz, said the director of the International House.
